Hello, So for expensive watches such as this what you are often times paying for is 1) the brand name 2) the craftsmanship of the watch itself 3) the movement contained within the watch. Present-day, Movado appeals to a wider audience with a more affordable class of watch, however they have been making watches since the 1800s. This particular model is a vintage Movado that is no longer in production - the quality of the movement and craftsmanship is very high. Much different than what you would see outside/inside most new Movado models. This is an entirely different class of watch than what you see Movado selling for $300, $400, etc.
It's very commonplace for high-end watches with stainless steel cases to sell for over $1,000 - just look at any TAG Heuer model for reference. Their watches are almost all exclusively made with steel and the base model will cost you at least $1,000.
